Initial Check-up

When you acquire a puppy, one of the first things you should do is have him checked by a vet. This examination is possibly the most important one your puppy will ever have. You need to be sure that your new puppy is healthy and free from serious defects such as a cleft palate or heart abnormality. At Vetrica, this initial examination is free¹.

Safeguarding for Puppy's Health

In this section you will find information about our Puppy Health Plan, which protects your puppy against the major infectious killer diseases and guarantees protection against fleas and worms. We also have a number of fact sheets with information about puppy health and welfare.

Puppy Health Plan

All dogs should be protected from flea and worm infestations. These serious problems are the most common source of suffering in the dogs seen at Vetrica. Puppies should also be vaccinated against the serious infectious killer diseases.

At Vetrica we offer combined protection against all these diseases in one package, with a large discount and many additional services at markedly reduced rates. We call this the "Puppy Health Plan", detailed as follows:

	A complete health examination and routine vaccinations for distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus and parainfluenza (at 6-8 weeks old), with a second injection (at 10 weeks old) administered by one of our vets.
Complete flea prevention with 2 courses of Program Plus (in tablet form), each of which provides 6 months protection against flea infestations.
	A year's supply of monthly wormer, Program Plus. Monthly worming is the gold standard for the control of dangerous roundworm infestation. This treatment also controls hookworms, and whipworms.
A 6 month health check by a veterinary nurse, at which stage the second pack of Program Plus tablets will be dispensed.

As a member of the puppy plan, you are also entitled to the following valuable discounts, valid for a full year:

Less than half price identichip. Permanent microchip identification for only £10.
10% off all waiting room sales. This includes collars, toys and treats as well as Hill's Science Plan dog and puppy foods.

This plan would cost over £126 if taken as individual items. If you enrol for the "Puppy Health Plan" we are able to offer you an excellent discount and an option to spread your payments.

A single fee of £91.80 payable at the initial vaccination.
Spread the cost over six months: an initial payment of £15.30 (by cash/cheque/card), followed by five payments of £15.30 by monthly Direct Debit.

Please note: Puppies that become more than 45kg in weight (99lbs) before the end of the plan will require additional packs of Program Plus which is charged extra. Please ask for further details if you think this may affect your puppy.

Note 1: A routine examination fee is charged at the time, which is refunded when you have your puppy's first vaccination with us.

Note 2: All dogs and cats in the household must also be treated with Program for the flea free guarantee.
