Why Some Animals Like
Going to the Vets

English is not a dog's first language...

or a cat's, or a rabbit's, or any other animal's for that matter. This is a fundamental problem for all vets. We grapple with it every day. People bring their pets to us at a time when they're sick, injured or in pain. They often show signs of great anxiety. So it's not surprising that when you take your pet to the vet, they sometimes don't want to go.

Confidence Building

Many dogs start to get distressed as soon as they realise they're approaching the vets. Vetrica is different. Set in large open grounds that are superb for dog walking. Why not take your dog for a short walk first before you come to see us to work off some of that excess energy.

Thank you very much for the care and attention Sheba received...

When you do come into the surgery, at Vetrica we go to great lengths to help your pets feel more comfortable. We take time to get to know your pet before trying to sort out any problems. Every pet is different. Some are perfectly happy with a simple "Hello Jack", and a pat on the head. Others might need us to spend five minutes sitting on the floor with them slowly gaining their confidence. Schmackos are great for this!

Not forgetting cats...we find some cats like to have a good look round first after which they settle quite nicely. The design of our building, and especially the consulting room means there are no little hidey-holes. Simply taking your cat out of his carrier and letting him investigate the room for a minute before trying to examine him makes all the difference.

Just a note to say thank you for your care and treatment of Lucy...

With the best will in the world, no matter how hard you try, some animals just don't like going to the vets. One extra way to help them enjoy the experience is just to bring them along when they're not ill. We regularly see dogs calling in during their walk around the grounds. They get a biscuit (or a Schmacko), a smile and a pat from the nurse. It really does make a difference when they have to come through illness.

Better for you

Vetrica is better for you as well. There's no struggling to find a parking space, or awkward parking manoeuvres here. We have masses of free parking. In fact, there are more parking spaces at Vetrica than the local Asda, and the local Tesco. Fresh coffee is available for free at all times in the waiting room. Not that you usually need to wait very long. We run a very efficient appointment system. Waiting times are kept to an absolute minimum, in comfortable surroundings.
